Our Plants

Even though we are surrounded by beautiful plants all day, we can't help choosing favorites each season. Come in and tell us about your growing conditions (sun, drainage, other plantings) and we'll help you choose the plants that are right for your Virginia gardens and containers.

Annuals

Annuals are garden plants that give you all their glory in their first year. They may live for several years in another climate, but here they generally last just one year.

Annuals provide an instant pop of color and usually cost less than perennials. In addition, most will bloom all summer long, giving you lots of nonstop color.

Annuals can make such a difference in your garden! They provide bright beautiful color all season long. In fact, we have so many annuals coming in throughout the summer, we're having a hard time choosing our favorites! Check back later for the latest list, or come see us to find the annuals that will work best for you.

Perennials

Perennials are plants that will return each season, living year after year.

Heuchera (Coral Bells)

Also known as coral bells, Heuchera boasts brightly colored leaves for ten months of the year and dainty flowers in early summer. They are terrific in containers and in the garden; we like to mix them with hostas and ferns. These hardworking favorites make a wonderful border and thrive in shade or part shade.

Baptisia

With spikes of pretty blooms from May into June, this flowering perennial has everything going for it. Very easy to grow and vigorous, it is deer resistant, long lived, and has a pretty "bush" like shape when not in bloom. Blooms May into June. We recommend any of the Baptisia for full sun or afternoon sun. Native.
